Self-motivation system is an asset, which perks us up in difficult times and helps us cope with our problem in an effective way.

Self-motivation and shyness

To overcome shyness, the first step is to motivate oneself. Even summoning up enough courage to seek help requires motivation and inner drive. The most important advantage of self-motivation is that we all are gifted with this self-help mechanism. It also helps you drag your attention away from obstacles and focus it on the target instead.

Developing self motivation

The first step of developing an effective self-motivation system is by accepting your problem. It is important to understand that you are not the only one affected with this problem. Accepting this philosophy keeps self-pity at bay. Until and unless you ward off self-pity, you cannot move ahead. You can then do goal setting and set your target. Your target of overcoming shyness needs to be unique to yourself. Refrain from setting goals, like performing on a stage within a week just because someone else has done it. You can set your goal on a paper and stick it up on the wall as a constant reminder. Reward yourself when you are able to reach sub goals no matter how trivial they seem.

You can have your own self-motivation mantra that you can chant each day like ‘ everything is great’ to nudge yourself the right way. Declaring your target to close family and friends is another great way to have a support group. Relaxation and imagery are great techniques to motivate yourself. Relaxation involves deep breathing exercises that help you calm yourself and combat anxiety while imagery helps one to imagine things like reaching a target, which is a great moral booster. For practicing these techniques however, you need professional help. Other important therapy is that of hypnosis. This too needs the help of expert hypnotherapist. Inspirational books and television programs can also make a difference in the way you think and act. As you develop self-motivation and implement it in your fight against shyness, your chances of success are guaranteed.
