Getting Organized
Being unorganized has a negative effect on many people's self-esteem. It can create an underlying feeling of things being out of control, priorities not being focuse on and a nagging sense of inefficient action. It is subtle and you may not notice it, but disorganization is something that has a disturbing undercurrent.
On the otherhand, getting organized gives you a plan, a system to work from and habits that enhance your life rather than unravel it. A peaceful environment is helpful for one's business life, one's family life and personal life. Your projects are not chaotic, you become less moody and you feel your time is used well. There is a sense of accomplishment and not a sense of dread that is part of your projects.
One thing that is helpful is to investigate if you can outsource or delegate some of your tasks. For business this could mean someone doing your billing. For home life, it may mean having someone come in to do some cleaning. This can be very liberating as you don't have your finger in every pie but are now getting your task done plus getting other ones finished through outsourcing. What is the best use of your time? Are there mechanical or repetitive tasks someone else can do for you?
See how much it weighs on your mind that feeling of things being in disarray and poorly managed. It has a nagging quality even when you try to ignore it. You'll feel so much better doing a bit of prioritizing, goal setting and delegating as it's very empowering and helps things fall in place. Tim Ferris's book, "The Four Hour Work Week" has a lot of ideas on efficiency of time and outsourcing. He questions a lot of our assumptions and has some revolutionary ideas.
