Whether you are writing content for your own self help journal, your own website, press releases for your business, or business correspondence, writing is a necessary skill for today’s entrepreneur and business owner. Fortunately, there are many free online tools to use that will help in your writing.

Spelling problems are virtually a thing of the past, thanks to today’s spell checkers. Not only do they correct your spelling, but they will also point out possible errors in grammar so that you can always seem professional. Most word processing programs come equipped with their own spell checkers. You can add frequently used words to a customized dictionary so that you don’t have to check them every time.

When you’re reaching for that perfect word, or wanting to make sure that you’re using the right word, there are online dictionaries to help. And a thesaurus is a great aid in finding not only better words to use, but also words that will let you say the same thing in many different ways. This can help you make your point with emphasis without seeming repetitive.

Often, you’ll need to research the background of your market or your subject matter. Fortunately, there are many free sources online to help you, from encyclopedias to almanacs. There are also many available maps and map search agents online to let you make sure you understand the geography and location you want to talk about in your writing.

Online research can also help you see what others have written on certain subjects, which is great for inspiration. You can even find famous quotes to use, and find answers to questions whenever you forget names or background.
